Portraits and Sketches from a PhD Life - Drawing Exhibition by Francesco La Rocca (History PhD Candidate, Department of History, CEU)

"Some habits are hard to die. When your first paid job is to make portraits and cartoons for a local newspaper, the need to draw will always be with you, even when you become a history PhD student. Or, at least, that is what happened to me.

Joining a PhD programme provided me with the amazing opportunity to meet so many new people and make more and more portraits during the conferences and lectures I partook in. With this exhibition I am going to share with you a selection of them."

Opening address by György E. Szőnyi, Professor of the History Department, CEU.

Born in Rome, Italy, on 15 November 1984, Francesco La Rocca is PhD candidate at the Department of History, Central European University. Part-time bass player, part-time drawer, full-time happy guy. This is his first exhibition.
