Message to incoming students

August 5, 2020

Dear incoming students of CEU’s Department of History,

First of all, I congratulate you on your admission to CEU. My colleagues and I are looking forward to working with you in the upcoming academic year.

Below you can find important information about your studies:

We are aware that not all of you will arrive in Vienna by the beginning of the academic year due to travel restrictions and delayed visa processes. Please be assured that we are doing our best to offer our full curriculum to students who must begin their studies online. CEU will open from September 7 and on-site classes will begin from September 28. However, practically all courses will also allow for remote participation in one way or another. We will provide you with more details in early September. Please inform us if you expect to arrive in Vienna with delay.

You can now find a preliminary schedule for the fall term and a course list for the academic year 2020/21 on this page https://history.ceu.edu/course-schedule

Do not hesitate to get in touch with our professors with any questions you may have about supervision, course readings, prerequisites, or course setup.

Our programs have recently been accredited in Austria. Those applying for visa should have received their invitation letters by now. If you have any questions about this matter, please contact admissions@ceu.edu

Please also consult CEU’s information page regarding health and safety on campus and CEU’s FAQ page for admitted graduate students

For now I wish you an enjoyable and relaxing rest of the summer. If you have any questions, please contact us at history@ceu.edu

 Best wishes,

Matthias Riedl
Head of Department
