István Szijártó (1965) is Professor of History at Eötvös University, Budapest. His research is focussed on the social and cultural history of politics in 18th-century Hungary, with special regard to the parliament as well as on historiography and the theory of history, with special regard to microhistory. His books in English include What is microhistory? Theory and practice published by Routledge in 2013 (co-author: Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon) and Estates and constitution. The parliament in eighteenth-century Hungary published by Berghahn in 2020. He is the editor of the forthcoming volume Parliamentarism in Northern and East-Central Europe in the Long Eighteenth Century (together with Wim Blockmans and László Kontler, to be published by Routledge in 2022) and series editor of the book series Microhistories (together with Sigurður Gylfi Magnússon, published by Routledge).
