I am a historian of socialist Europe, with a particular emphasis on the decline and fall of governments in the Warsaw Pact states. My interests also encompass the idiosyncratic roads to socialism pursued by Yugoslavia and Albania, anti-revisionist Marxist-Leninist movements in Western Europe, and popular culture within the socialist sphere.

My current work is concentrated on the linkages between Communist parties of Western and East Central Europe, dissident movements within Western Communist parties, and Communist-endorsed mass media publications.
